Sonora Grill
Sonora Grill is located on the corner of 23rd street and Kiesel Ave in downtown Ogden. Right across the street is Megaplex and Fat Cats. Make it a date night; dinner and a movie! Sonora is a downtown staple and the owner is an integral part of the community. Sonora is a popular place so I recommend getting a reservation especially for dinner. The inside of the restaurant includes a bar, two large rooms and a banquet room suited for large parties.
Sonora offers authentic Northern Mexican food. The owner, chef, and a few of the managers actually went to Sonora, Mexico for a month to learn about the food and culture in order to make everything as authentic as possible. Rest assured, if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place! A few of their most popular dishes include Flautas (chimichangas), Carnitas Nortenas, the Sonora Salad and many more. As a starter I always get the guacamole as well as the Queso Fundido; both of these can be made tableside for a fun experience. I can’t choose a favorite entree so I’ll give you my top two. The Arroz Con Pollo is one of my go-tos, it’s made with enchilada sauce and pablano peppers. So delicious! I also love the Carnitas Nortenas. The Carnitas are pan fried which gives them a little crunch then they are served with tortillas, guac, and sour cream. Then for dessert I highly recommend the Mocha Cheesecake. Sonora has many gluten friendly, vegan, and vegetarian options as well. They also serve brunch every Saturday and Sunday until 3pm. The brunch is so delicious! I recommend the chorizo scramble.
